This man is chained to a fence on L.A.’s Skid Row — and the mayor has the key

While reporting from Skid Row in Los Angeles (the “home” of 4000 men and women, and ten times as many rats), I met Catholic Worker activist Kaleb.

For the 46 days of Lent this year, he has gone without food, and sat chained to a fence, to protest the lack of action being taken by city politicians to fix this human catastrophe.

Kaleb tells me that over 800 people have died on the streets of Los Angeles last year.
