Skid Row in L.A.: Politicians, media ignore this “human health catastrophe waiting to happen”


Here in Los Angeles, California, mere blocks away from beautiful homes, shops and restaurants, is a place of famine, strife, and disease.

If you go looking for it on a tourist map, as I did, you can’t find Skid Row. It’s been blotted from the page as if it doesn’t exist.

But exist it does, and the conditions in which these thousands of Americans are living is worse than I expected — worse even than the migrant camps of Calais.
