How a migrant “Anker” center transformed “a perfect German town”

I have made my way to Donauwörth in Bavaria, an hour outside of Munich.

It looks exactly like everyone’s image of a perfect German town.

But Angela Merkel chose this place a migrant “anker center.” Asylum seekers are kept at these closed facilities for up to 18 months while their applications are processed.

These centres are a concession to a harder line on migration.
